Ethics Statement
JSO feels very strongly that all of our services, including coaching, must consistently adhere to the strictest ethical guidelines and principles. In that regard, JSO follows the Standards for Ethical Practice as set forth by the Association of Career Professionals International and its Ethics Council. These standards, as they relate to JSO, are as follows:
As an organization:
- Comply with all laws, statutes and regulations affecting business practices and quality of service relationships.
- Clearly define the services offered, and ensure these services are within the knowledge and capabilities of the firm.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality and privacy.
- In marketing services, advertise factually, and neither claim nor imply professional qualifications and/or capabilities exceeding those possessed.
As a professional career management consultant/coach:
- Continuously improve professional skills, competency and knowledge to provide the highest quality of service to clients.
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters. Any discussion of a client’s job search or career campaign with others will not be conducted without the client’s permission.
- Recognize boundaries of competence, and provide only those services, and use only those techniques, for which one is qualified by education, training or experience.
- In using certain assessment instruments, be qualified to use the instrument and adhere to published administration guidelines. Assessment results will not be released without the client’s permission.
- Take reasonable action to inform responsible authorities when conditions indicate that there is a clear and imminent danger to the client or others. Ideally, this will be done with the client’s knowledge or permission, but if necessary, without.
