General Questions About JSO
Wow, this looks really complicated. Do I really have to use all of these tools?
No. You only use the tools that you need. Everybody’s job search is unique and calls for a different strategy and a somewhat different set of tools, techniques and support. Using JSO for your search insures you that you will have access to everything that you need for a first class job search.
How effective is the JSO approach in finding a new job?
Studies have shown that the methods incorporated in the JSO approach account for over 80% of successful job searches.
Can’t I just conduct my job search myself?
Yes, you can, and many people do. However, most people do not have the skills, tools and discipline to conduct a first class job search. By using JSO, your chances of finding the right job in a shorter period of time will improve dramatically.
Will JSO find me a job?
No. Be wary of any service or anyone that says they will find a job for you. Your success in finding a new position is in direct proportion to the effort you put into it. Everyone, at some point, will find a job; but, if you are proactive in conducting your job search, and follow the JSO guidelines, your search time will be substantially shortened.
Will JSO provide me with job leads?
No. JSO will, however, provide you with the skills, tools and coaching needed to develop leads you never thought possible.
How is JSO different from other career counseling firms?
Most career counseling firms have offices and staff in limited geographic areas, and often can only service clients who live in those areas. JSO combines the highest quality on-line tools and techniques with personalized coaching and we do it at a cost that is a fraction of that of the typical bricks and mortar firms.
What does JSO offer that free job clubs or non-profit services do not?
JSO offers a level of quality and service that is just not available through job clubs and non-profit sources. We use the most effective tools and techniques available and complement them with the finest job search coaching available. In addition, the JSO Process keeps you on track and marks every step of your progress. JSO’s process as well as its tools and techniques are upgraded continually to insure that they are the most effective available.
What is the difference between JSO and sites like monster.com or careerbuilder.com?
JSO provides all of the effective tools and coaching necessary for a successful job search or career move. It is not a resume clearing house or job board. If you use the JSO process properly, your chances of finding the right new position, whether through monster.com or another means, will significantly improve.
How can JSO contain more features, but be less expensive than their competitors?
The JSO Process is more comprehensive than our competitors because it has been designed by professionals who have extensive experience in Career Management. It is less expensive because we do not have offices and support staff, which would involve costly overhead.
Does the JSO Process work for people over 50? For people looking for a job change?
Yes. The JSO Process works for later career individuals, and those who are seeking to make a career or job change. It also is very effective for retirees or stay at home mothers or fathers who wish to re-enter the work world, whether it be full time or part time.
Can JSO be useful to me if I’m stuck in my job and want a better position?
Absolutely. Most aspects of the JSO Process are useful for internal searches, as well as external searches. The added feature of one-on-one coaching can be especially helpful in these instances.
Is everything I do with JSO, including with my Coach, kept confidential?
Most definitely. JSO feels very strongly about maintaining their client’s confidences, and abide by a strict code of ethics established by the Association of Career Professionals International. In fact, one of the JSO principals is the Chairperson of this association’s Ethics Council.
Can I talk to a present or former JSO client?
Unfortunately not. Client privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance. As a result, you can understand why we can not provide client information.
Where is JSO located?
Our leadership group is split between Chicago, IL and Austin, TX, and our coaches are located across the U.S.
